Lead Structural Designer | Structural

Fuller Group, LLC is looking for a motivated individual interested in taking a leadership role in the drafting team.  The function of this role will be primarily production of design documents with the added responsibility of setting drafting standards, maintaining standard details, creating a cohesive environment, and coaching newly hired designers. Fuller is a growing firm, located in Greenville, SC, with a relaxed office atmosphere in need of additional drafting support in order to fulfill the growing needs of our clients.  We work in a large variety of sectors both commercial and industrial.  This position is located at our Greenville, SC office.

Responsibilities

As part of the design team, the Lead Structural Designer will be responsible for the preparation of construction drawings for projects including, but not limited to, structural plans, sections and details for industrial, commercial office, healthcare, educational and retail projects. Essential functions (may include but are not limited to):

    • Perform drafting duties under the direction of the Project Engineer and/or Principal in Charge
    • Provide guidance to engineers and designers on Revit/CAD/BIM standards.
    • Create framing and foundation plans independently with limited input from senior staff.
    • Maintain project drawing files.
    • Complete red line mark-ups and address design comments.
    • Organize and prepare a variety of complex layouts and drawings from written or verbal specifications or from rough detailed sketches.
    • Use basic quantity and geometry calculations in creation of drawings.
    • Work with the Project Engineer and/or Principal in Charge within project workflow to establish and maintain consistent graphic standards on individual assigned project established by the client, firm, and industry.
    • Recommend details and notations to meet specialized needs of a particular project, or to facilitate or improve Revit/CAD productivity.
    • Lead meetings and discussions with the drafting team
    • Establish new drafting procedures as needed to improve production and communication.  
    • Communicate with architectural clients as required to coordinate drafting standards and technical issues.
    • Produce quality drawings on a consistent basis and within the constraints of a given project schedule and budget
    • Coach and/or train new designers on the company standards
    • May assist with scheduling or make staffing recommendations

Job Qualifications

    • Past experience as a Lead Designer or an experienced designer looking to take on additional responsibilities.
    • Advanced understanding of Revit and AutoCAD and general drafting knowledge, including knowledge of custom Revit families, working with templates, BIM360, etc.
    • Knowledge of primary building systems on commercial projects is required- foundations, primary building structure of floors, walls, ceilings and roof systems. Any knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems as it relates to coordination with structural.

Structural Engineer | Structural

Fuller Group, LLC is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer to work at the project engineer and project management levels.  The company is looking for self-motivated individuals who enjoy challenging projects, working with other engineers in a team environment, and interfacing directly with clients. Experience with a mixture of commercial and industrial building design is a plus.  

Fuller Group is a structural engineering and forensics firm that practices in 48 states.  Our commitment to quality and consistency has allowed the company to develop a strong customer base that is asking the firm to grow to meet the clients’ needs.  The firm’s structural division provides support services for both commercial and industrial clients.  Project types include office buildings, schools, multi-family, industrial facilities, historic buildings, and hospitals.

Candidate should have at least five years of experience and be licensed. Experience with RAM and Revit is also a plus. Excellent salary and benefits.

Responsibilities

    • Perform structural design calculations for wood, concrete, structural steel, and masonry structures
    • Manage assigned projects from schematic design through construction
    • Attend “kick-off” and design review meetings
    • Use various engineering related computer software (RAM, Risa, Adapt, etc.)
    • Utilize designers to prepare construction documents
    • Research code issues and coordinate with City, State, and County requirements regarding local code requirements and design criteria
    • Conduct field work/surveys
    • Perform structural assessments and write technical reports
    • Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommend necessary changes (i.e. shop drawing review)

Job Qualifications

    • BSCE or MSCE degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
    • +5 years’ experience
    • Licensed Professional Engineer
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Experience with RAM, Risa, Adapt, Enercalc and/or Revit is also a plus
